Walking around in anamolies is hazardous to your health. Also if for some reason your detector shows you an artifact, but you cannot get to it - it is underground, inside an anomaly, you can try loading from an earlier save or just leave it at that. Don't forget to sell you artifacts to Sakharov in the Yantar bunker. Also do not bother buing ammo and weapons. Take your time exploring - with the loot you get/find and sell, you'll earn some rubles to upgraded your armor and weapons.
